How a Remote Working Team of Females is Branding and Marketing

Lakshmi Thampi the lady leading the marketing team at Teknospire remember her days of struggle, post maternity when she had an urge to resume her career, but her motherly instincts insisted her to stay at home. She was keen to ‘work’ day n night to meet the deadlines, but the idea of leaving her baby with daycare or maid was horrifying. She would browse numerous jobs sites to get “one” opportunity that allows her to work remotely or provides an in-house creche but all in vain… She waited patiently, reskilling herself and when she resumed her career as Digital Strategist at Teknospire, she didn’t want young mothers to face the problems she did. She decided to open up doors to young mothers in her team who can work remotely balancing career and home. Meet our Sheroes Lakshmi Thampi and her team working from all parts of India, with the belief that if the work is defined, it can execute from anywhere. Adopting The Practical Approach In most of the discussion or meetups, Lakshmi receives a frown on knowing that the whole of her team is working remotely. But she explains it to them this way – it’s not the facility that ever could go wrong if someone is misusing work from home option that means you have hired a wrong person. For her work execution is what matters and in this age of technology, it sounds bit “orthodox” that you cannot work from home. Swati shared an unconventional perspective, Web Developer from Mumbai, says it’s an irony that while I tried umpteenth times during face to face discussion to get a job, but I could sail smoothly towards a common goal with my team since last one and half years whom I haven’t met even once The Team Lakshmi says – I have professionals working from Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and even Zimbabwe. Mostly when there are open positions, I float vacancies on social media and specific women job portals like Sheroes. I have never been disheartened every time I get a pool of resumes and to pick just one is a tough choice. Smitha another team member who is a UI Designer working from Bangalore says – I was looking out for a job that would give me a work-life balance as I had to take care of my child and work at the same. Since I had taken a career break of nearly three years, which is considered a vast gap in the technical race; I found myself gaining minimal pace in adapting the current trends. I started job hunting with very less hope as most of the places do not have a flexible schedule, and then I met Lakshmi Thampi, who was managing a team of people remotely. Without any second thoughts, I joined her side and hadn’t looked back ever since How Do You Stay Connected? Thampi states – We have a Whatsapp group where all team member interact with each other. Also, we schedule calls to stay connected. People in Bangalore whenever the need arises also visit the office, all the sessions presented in office involve remote working team as well. So they know what’s going on in the office concerning technology and solutions and even office people know we have our an extended team working remotely. Also, Tools like Task schedulers, Messenger and Video call tools help in communication with the team. On asking Divya social media manager of Teknospire based out of Bangalore who often visits the office, is it tedious to go to the office when you have the comfort of working from home? She says – Not really. Going to office opens new ideas, meeting, interacting with the team is an experience in itself. You sync up with the energy in the office and are more focused and confident to deliver the best in you. On Teknospire and its Policies? Teknospire is a two-year-old fintech startup aiming to enable financial inclusion. Build and deliver the right technology, and keep it rolling with partner banks for the masses is the mission and purpose. Our offerings vary from the FinX-Payment and Agency Banking Suite, FinX- Mobile Money Suite, Data Analytics, FinX-Payment SwitchOut flagship product FINX Reg Policies and work ethics, Lakshmi says – we believe in gender diversity and equal opportunity to all our employees. Our team in Bangalore do have an option to work from home, but they can avail it whenever the need arises. Is Remote Working Offered only By Startups? Lakshmi says – Many MNC’s also offer work from home, and the decision maker in big firms are the “Managers,” and at the end of the day it all depends upon the rapport you have with your immediate manager. In start-ups it differs, many times due to long working hours or limitation of office supplies people do allow work from home option as it is budget friendly and offers work-life balance to the employee. Compensation? On asking Lakshmi about the compensation for a remote employee, she says – In Teknospire Wages/Salary is not decided whether the person is working from home or in office, it is determined based on the number of hours and the value the person could bring in to take firm more closer to its goal. For example, a person who is putting 2 hours a day would be paid less when compared to another person with the same experience that devotes 8 hours [also comparing the value derived in these hours]. So the salary for our remote employees is also with identical logic. Divya, however, has an impressive view she says – like for a fresher out of college, gaining work experience is a must and once you have achieved, you can negotiate the price for the hours you put in and the value you derive. Hence compensation is directly proportional to the value a professional could get from the number of hours. On the other hand, Pallavi a Social Media Marketer from Bhubaneshwar says

Serverless Computing 2017 Summit Roundup

On 27th October 2017, Teknospire was a part of the Serverless Computing Summit 2017 held by CodeOps Technologies along with Oracle Startup Accelerator. Key highlights of the summit were – Speakers At the summit, we had speakers such as :- Srushith Repakula, CodeOps addressing Serverless: Why it is Hot and why it is not Amit Gupta & Arvind Srinivasan, Oracle addressing Democratizing Serverless: The Open source FN project Mohd. Nasiruddin, Microsoft addressing he Apt Datastore for Serverless apps Madhusudan Shekar, AWS addressing Serverless And IOT Manoj Ganapathy, CodeOps addressing Serverless Architecture and patterns John Willis, Sandeep Alur(Microsoft), Vidyasagar Machupalli(IBM) joining the panel discussion. Speakers addressing  Topics touched upon in the Summit What is Serverless Computing? Serverless architecture allows its users to to run their applications without having to manage the servers and the infrastructure. The resources and the infrastructure are managed by the Cloud provider. The application will still run on the server but the resource management will be done by the cloud provider. Serverless Computing: Pros & Cons The highlights of serverless deployments are: – No server management: –There is no need to any software or runtimes and no server maintenance and management is required. The server management is taken care by the provider itself. Auto Scaling: –The scaling of the application is done automatically as and when required rather than adding individual units of servers. High Availability: –The availability of the application is given by default by the provider and do not need to be designed for high availability. Cost Effective: – The serverless architecture is more cost effective as compared to the traditional servers as the user has to pay for the resources that are used by the application and there are no costs when the application is in the idle state. Serverless architecture has its own drawbacks. Know what they are: – Affecting Efficiency levels: –Serverless may not be effective for long running applications. In some cases, using long tasks can be more expensive than running a workload on a dedicated server. Monitoring and debugging: –Performance monitoring and diagnosing excessive resource usage is quite a challenging when compared to the traditional server setups. Additionally, code runs in a not open source environment thereby making local replication of performance characteristics impossible. High Response Latency: –The functions that are not used frequently may have a higher response latency as compared to the deployment that is continuously running on a server. FaaS Serverless architecture’s unit of scale is a function. In other words, the business logic is run on the serverless architecture by using the functions. The AWS lambda, uses Function As A Service(FaaS) while making use of serverless architecture. FaaS provides a platform to execute code in response to the events without worrying about the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure. The serverless architecture can be achieved by building an application using the FaaS model. A serverless app can be as simple as running a few lambda functions on AWS to accomplish a task or it can be used for the entire backend which can comprise of hundreds of such functions. In a microservice architecture, the application is broken down into smaller services so that they can be managed independently, and FaaS is further one step down by breaking the application to functions and events. Framework of serverless architecture: – The architecture of serverless framework is as follows :- Web Server – All the static content of the web server such as CSS, HTML, JS can be stored on a storage such as S3. FaaS Solution – This business logic will reside in form of functions(FaaS). There are several examples where these functions can be deployed, such as AWS lambda, Google cloud functions, Oracle Fn. The functions here will read and write from the database. Security Token Service(STS) – This will generate the temporary Amazon Web Services(AWS) credentials for the users of the applications. User Authentication – AWS Cognito can be used for the user authentication. The AWS Cognito is integrated with the lambda function. Scenarios for using serverless architecture: – Ideal cases where the serverless architecture can fit into and be cost-effective than the traditional servers are : – Chatbots Data pipelines (ETL tools) Event -driven services IOT Representing Teknospire, Sunil Poonia was there for understanding how the concept could be made use of in our FinX products. Thank You CodeOps Technologies, for sharing the knowledge. Contributors : Sunil Poonia Software Engineer Divya Content Strategist

Fintech Vision 2017

FinTech Vision 2017 @Teknospire

It would be good to pick a cup of coffee/tea while you read this post, as visions are not minuscule that you read them and sideline them. They need to absorbed and engrossed within, to make a decision that could help you with your new year, new beginnings, new goals, new targets and new aspirations to growth is what was the first advice made by Vishal, the CEO of Teknospire. As he continues – for a start-up that on paper may be just a year old, but its idea was incepted long back! As a founder, I may have the challenge to prove that the idea germinated still solid and must be nourished to a fully grown up tree, and with the way #Fintech industry is progressing, I feel we are a step closer to our goals. First quarter of 2017 @Teknospire When we were planning for the year, we had an anxiety of how we could continue helping people in rural/remote areas with technology especially our hub in Africa and India. There are technologies like Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Digitized payments, Chatbots, In-App-Payments, Data Analytics that are evolving, so could we use them for the betterment and it also serves our business interest? We brainstormed and came to a logical conclusion of putting efforts to streamline and offer solutions for B2C Payments, Data Analytics for Payments, Services Aggregator for 10 African Countries, Corporate Payments Offering, Agri-FinTech Solutions and Chatbots. We started our first quarter of 2017 with an aim to target the specific areas of the technologies mentioned above. While in February we were busy in scrutinizing the idea and the necessary information, by the end of first quarter we planned to release our first module in execution. Plans For 2017 @Teknospire Our plans for the year 2017 is to offer latest technology that could help in Digitization and connecting individuals from remote places, and that’s why we have – Payment Switch For Africa Payment Switch is a platform that allows a transaction requested by an interface like ATM, POS, M-POS, Payment Gateway, Mobile Wallet, and then it authorizes with their particular bank and enables the deal to go through. With a Payment Switch offering any complex financial transaction could be completed in an easy, fast and secure manner. The Payment Switch comes with following benefits – Real-time access to clear, settle or manage any financial transaction Reduces cost, by making keeping the third-party services redundant Better control and flexibility to the directly attached devices Easy in adding, deleting, editing the merchant data Would also offer value added services like couponing, multi-currency dispensing and kiosk functionality B2C Payments In a move to go paperless, B2C payments are up on the rise. As per some statistics available for the year 2009-2012, there was a decline by 16% per year in Business-to-customer checks in the US. While the report highlights High Paper cost, Slow processing and possibility of fraud and theft are the key challenges. The supporting factors for the Paperless drive are a low-cost technology with fast and easy access make it as a first choice to digitize B2C payments. With B2C Payment solution we want business to send payments directly to the customers through a secured, fast and reliable channel. Data Analytics for Payments Analytical tools are helping individuals in making an informed decision. The information provides a great insight that could help businesses in improving profitability and optimizing revenues. Analytics also assist in cutting costs and explore the operational gray areas pressing on setting up new strategic direction. Our solution of Data Analytics for Payments would offer the features mentioned above with the other value added services. Services Aggregator for 10 African Countries In modern time How do you think we empower the group at the bottom of the pyramid? By connecting them to the latest technology and allow them to explore the world. Our Service Aggregator that we plan to launch for 10 African countries would be a connecting point for the customers and vendors. On my hand where these Service Aggregators provide flexibility to customers, it also helps the brick-and-mortar business to find a place online. Not to forget the unlimited possibility of entrepreneurship for the person who manages the Service Aggregator technology solution. Corporate Payments Offering Our Corporate Payment Offering would be one-stop-solution for all the corporate needs. Be it corporates looking for financial transactions, bank statements, the filing of taxes, forex or a trading account, our integrated solution would help your corporate world in focussing onto their targets, while we take a good care of their hard-earned money. AgriFinTech Solutions Agriculture is one of the oldest occupation in India, and it ties up most of the rural areas that are dependent on it. The government, World Bank, and other international grants are released to the farmers either in the case of natural calamity or as an external aid to procure modern farming equipment or world class seeds. How often do we know that the money released is used for the particular purpose? Our Agri-Fintech solutions would streamline and automate these processes. The solutions would make sure that an individual buys/picks the thing for which the aid/grant is provided and it would be linked to AAdhaar Card leaving no room for misuse. ChatBots Chatbots are software programs that could execute simple tasks via messaging. For example issuing bot service, I could find the nearest ATM location and also get a monthly statement. One could also use bot services to track spending and make funds transfer. Our chatbot solution would provide features on similar lines. Teknospire Brand Ambassadors How could we end the vision post without introducing the people who are working hard to make the vision the reality! Nirbhay and Venkat are the backbones of #PaymentsSwitch, while #B2Cpayments is owned by Anurag, Keerthi and Shiva, Hari is putting his best into #CorporatePayments. Priyanshu is sweating to design the best #ServiceAggregator, while Lakshmi is busy balancing #Agri-Fintech and #Chatbots. I really thank the Brand Ambassadors of Teknospire
